ASTM D2422 - Standard Classification of Industrial Fluid Lubricants by Viscosity System
We perform lubricants quality and conformance testing by ASTM D2422 to classify industrial fluid lubricants by their standard viscosity. This standard defines how lubricants are classified into ISO grades depending on viscosity. ISO grades are defined with a number, e.g., ISO VG 100. The number refers to the viscosity of the lubricant at 40C. There is a standard tolerance of +- 10% applied to the nominal viscosity value, so a lubricant with viscosity at 40C between 90 and 110 is considered an ISO VG 100 viscosity grade.
