ASTM D976 - Calculated Cetane Index of Distillate Fuels

 

We perform fuel quality testing by ASTM D976 to calculate the cetane index of distillate fuels using API gravity and distillation data. ASTM D976 requires ASTM D86 - Distillation and either ASTM D4052 - Density & API Gravity or ASTM D1298 - Density (API Gravity). 

We also perform cetane testing by ASTM D4737, ASTM D613, IP 41, and ISO 5165. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
