ISO 5662 - Copper Corrosion

We perform testing by ISO 5662 to detect the presence of free sulfur and corrosive sulfur compounds by putting copper in contact with an oil sample. Most applications for insulating oils put the oil in constant contact with metals that are subject to corrosion. Any corrosive sulfur compounds in the insulating oils will cause deterioration and corrosion in those metals, leading to mechanical failure and operating problems.

We also perform copper corrosion testing by ASTM D1275ASTM D130ASTM D4048DIN 51811FTM 5305IP 315ISO 2160MIL-PRF-372E §4.3.2, and MIL-PRF-46002 §4.2.3.3. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.

ISO 5662 corresponds or is equivalent to IP 315 and ASTM D1275.
