IP 34 - Flash Point
We perform testing by IP 34 to measure the temperature at which a volatile material vaporizes and forms an ignitable mixture; this is called the flash point. This test is useful for measuring the volatility and purity of a material. Flash Point by IP 34 uses a Pensky-Martens manual or automated closed cup tester. A sample is placed in the closed cup and is heated. An ignition source is directed into the cup at regular intervals until the sample vapor ignites or 'flashes.'
