IP 386 - Water in Crude Oil
We perform oil testing by IP 386 to determine the water content by volume in crude oil by using a coulometric Karl Fischer reagent to perform a titration.
We also perform water content, water contamination, and water resistance testing by ASTM D1264, ASTM D1401, ASTM D1533, ASTM D1744, ASTM D1796, ASTM D2709, ASTM D4006, ASTM D4007, ASTM D4049, ASTM D4928, ASTM D95, ASTM E203, FTM 3463, ISO 10337, ISO 3733, and IP 74. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
