ASTM D1264 - Water Washout Characteristics of Lubricating Greases
We perform lubricating grease quality testing by ASTM D1264 to evaluate a grease’s resistance to water at high temperatures. The grease sample is packed into a ball bearing, which is then rotated under flowing water. The amount of grease washed out during the test is one measure of the resistance of the grease to water washout.
We also perform water content, water contamination, and water resistance testing by ASTM D1401, ASTM D1533, ASTM D1744, ASTM D1796, ASTM D2709, ASTM D4006, ASTM D4007, ASTM D4049, ASTM D4928, ASTM D95, ASTM E203, FTM 3463, IP 386, ISO 10337, ISO 3733, and IP 74. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
