ASTM D2386 - Freezing Point of Aviation Fuels
We perform testing by ASTM D2386 to determine the lowest temperature at which jet fuel remains free of solid hydrocarbon crystals. The freezing point of aviation fuel is the lowest temperature at which the fuel remains free of solid hydrocarbon crystals. These hydrocarbon crystals can restrict the flow of fuel through filters in an aircraft's fuel system. The temperature of the fuel in the aircraft tank normally falls during flight depending on aircraft speed, altitude, and flight duration.
