ASTM D4007 - Water & Sediment in Crude Oil by the Centrifuge Method
We perform crude oil quality testing by ASTM D4007, using a centrifuge to determine the approximate water and sediment content in crude oils. Water and sediment contamination in crude oil can cause equipment corrosion and problems in processing. Determining the water and sediment content of crude oil is required to accurately measure net volumes of actual oil in sales, taxation, exchanges, and custody transfers.
We also perform water content, water contamination, and water resistance testing by ASTM D1264, ASTM D1401, ASTM D1533, ASTM D1744, ASTM D1796, ASTM D2709, ASTM D4006, ASTM D4049, ASTM D4928, ASTM D95, ASTM E203, FTM 3463, IP 386, ISO 10337, ISO 3733, and IP 74. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
