FTM 335 - Gear Wear
We perform lubricating grease quality testing by FTM 335 to determine the relative lubricity of greases. The lubricating grease is applied to two sets of measured test gears, which are run under specified loads. At the end of the test the gears' change in weight is measured as the wear.
We also perform wear testing by ASTM D2882, ASTM D3704, ASTM D4170, and MIL-G-81827 §4.7.3. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
