FTM 202 - Cloud Intensity at Low Temperature

We perform the cloud intensity test by FTM 202 to determine the stability of hydraulic fluids or highly refined light lubricating oils at low temperatures. The sample is chilled in storage for a length of time determined by the product specification. After storage, the sample is shaken, and the turbidity or 'cloudiness' is compared to the turbidity of a similarly shaken standard.

We also perform cloud point testing by ASTM D2500ASTM D5771ASTM D5773DIN 51597FTM 203IP 444IP 446ISO 3015MIL-DTL-17111 §, and MIL-H-22072 §4.6.7. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
