MIL-H-22072 §4.6.9 - Effect on Packings and Other Elastomeric Components

We perform hydraulic fluid testing by Military Specification MIL-H-22072 to evaluate the elastomer compatibility of a catapult hydraulic fluid. The elastomers are immersed in the hydraulic fluid for 7 days at 70°C (158°F). Specification MIL-H-22072 uses FTM 6211 to evaluate the percentage change in volume of elastomers after immersion in the hydraulic fluid.

We also perform elastomer compatibility testing by Def Stan 05-50 (Part 61) Method 22, FTM 3432, FTM 3433, FTM 3603, FTM 3604, and SAE ARP6179. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types.
