ASTM D6379 - Determination of Aromatic Hydrocarbon Types in Aviation Fuels and Petroleum Distillates - High Performance Liquid Chromatography Method with Refractive Index Detection

We perform testing by ASTM D6379 to determine the types and concentration of hydrocarbons in jet fuel using a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The total aromatic content is calculated from the sum of the individual aromatic hydrocarbon-types. The aromatic hydrocarbon types in aviation fuels can indicate fuel quality and the relative combustion properties of finished fuels. 

ASTM D6379 is a comparable test to ASTM D1319, and is recommended in the recognized specification for commercial jet fuel, ASTM D1655, for reporting the total aromatic content in aviation turbine fuels. We recommend ASTM D6379 as an alternative test to ASTM D1319. If you have any questions about the differences between the two test methods, please contact us.
