ASTM D93 - Flash Point by Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Tester
We perform flash point by ASTM D93 to measure the lowest temperature at which a volatile material vaporizes and forms an ignitable mixture with the air. This test is useful for measuring the volatility and purity of a material. Flash Point by ASTM D93 uses a Pensky-Martens manual or automated closed cup tester. A sample is placed in the closed cup and is heated. An ignition source is directed into the cup at regular intervals until the sample vapor ignites or 'flashes.'
