SM2540C - Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

We perform water testing by SM2540C to measure the total dissolved solids (TDS) in water by filtration through a standard glass-fiber filter. Water with high dissolved solids content is generally poorly flavored and may induce an unfavorable physiological reaction in unaccustomed consumers. Waters high in suspended solids may be distasteful or unsatisfactory for bathing and washing.

When measuring the TDS in water, the sample is well-mixed and filtered through a standard glass-fiber filter. The part of the sample that passed through the filter is evaporated in a dish and dried to constant weight at 180°C. The increase in the dish's weight represents the total dissolved solids.

Sample quantity required: 500 ml
